Introduction/specifics

Short profile Kindergarten Dettenschwang

To the west of the market town of Diessen am Ammersee lies the small, rural district of Dettenschwang. Since 1998, children have been cared for in mixed-age groups in an old school building. In 2021, the kindergarten was expanded by one additional group.

This means that a total of 54 children aged 1 to 6 years, as well as 5 schoolchildren, can now be cared for in two kindergarten groups and one nursery group.

Like the children’s center in Riederau, the kindergarten is under the municipal sponsorship of the market town of Diessen am Ammersee.

We are a family-supporting and complementary institution. In our work, it is very important to us that your child can learn in an environment where they feel safe and secure.

A holistic education that respects the individuality of your child is a given for us. Our goal is to empower your child to face life’s challenges and to develop a joy for learning.

In order to achieve these goals for your child, a cooperative and trusting relationship with you as parents is very important. We complement the education and upbringing that you provide for your child at home.

We offer your child fixed daily routines to provide a sense of security. We regularly go to physical education and organize experience days (forest days, field days, walks, excursions) to ensure a varied kindergarten experience.

Experiencing community with consideration, mutual support, and polite interaction are important values for your child.

Rooms

Our premises at the nursery

Our nursery is located in an old, converted school building, with different rooms for various activities. There is a nursery group and a crèche group on the ground floor. The third group is on the first floor. This is connected to the lower groups via a staircase.

We also have a play area in the corridor, a new kitchen with an integrated dining room, a staff room and an office available for our team and for parent-teacher meetings.

Outdoor Facilities

Our garden
In our garden you will find many possibilities to move and train all your senses. Your child will find a large sandpit, camel ride, climbing tower, slackline and a barefoot path. There is also a garden hut with vehicles, goals, sidewalk crayons, etc.
From the upper group, a slide leads into the garden, which may be used by all groups under supervision.
In spring, summer and autumn we also have the opportunity to plant, tend and harvest our vegetable patch together. Thus, your child can watch the food grow and participate in the processing.

Daily Schedule

Our daily routine:

The daily routine is structured similarly across all three groups.

We start at 7.30 am every day with the early drop-off. Children can be brought to the centre until 8.15 am.

This is followed by a morning circle in each group, lasting approximately 30 minutes.

Afterwards, there is a snack and free play.

During free play, various activities are offered. In addition to educational activities, the children can also go into the corridor to play. Various board games are also available, or individual educational activities take place in small groups.

Once a week, all groups go to PE.

Depending on the weather, we take the children out into the garden every day.

From 12.15 pm to 12.30 pm, the first collection phase for children not staying for lunch takes place.

Children staying for lunch are collected daily at 11.45 am for lunch together.

After a lunch break, which is organised individually according to the needs of each group, the second collection period begins at 2 pm.

At 2.15 pm, the afternoon begins for the remaining children with free play time in the garden or indoors. Our children are mixed across groups for this.  Here too, various activities take place depending on the children’s needs.

Children may be collected from 3.00 pm. Our centre closes at 4.00 pm (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday) for all children.

On Wednesdays and Fridays, the centre closes at 2.00 pm for all children.

Food

Our meals at the nursery:

At our nursery, we place great importance on providing our children with a healthy and balanced diet.

Snack time takes place after the morning circle. The children bring their own breakfast, depending on their appetite. At regular intervals, we organise a communal breakfast where we serve milk, dairy products and a selection of fruit and vegetables from a box. This organic box is subsidised by the government through the School Fruit Scheme. Our supplier is the Schlossmarkt in Windach. Nursery children receive their snack from the nursery.

Lunch is delivered to us by the ‘Zwergerlkoch’ Albrechthof in Oderding. This enables us to offer a varied lunch every day. It is important to us that our children develop a love and enthusiasm for their food and enjoy spending time together.

Our children always have access to drinks at any time. Drinks are provided by the nursery.

Basics

Our pedagogical aspects:

Each child has a fixed group and fixed caregivers. This gives our children security and a good basis. At the same time, we also work across groups in various projects or activities. Here, the situation-oriented approach is important to us. Project topics are mainly agreed upon and planned together in the respective groups on the basis of children's conferences. Holistic approach and addressing all senses is very important to us.

Cooperations

Our cooperations:

We work together with the Interdisciplinary Early Intervention Centre in Landsberg.
Once a year we offer our parents a development talk. In between, we offer parent meetings as needed. These can be arranged individually with us.
