About Us
St. Theresia Kindergarten is a lively place for learning, playing, and being together. It is located next to St. Katharina and St. Martin Kindergartens, which are also run by Andreaswerk. Currently, our facility is housed in modern mobile classrooms. In the future, we look forward to moving into our new building in the “Holter Kapelle” development, which will provide even more space for child-friendly and forward-looking care.
We support children aged 3 to 7 years on their individual developmental paths. In two regular groups, each with up to 25 children, our qualified educators create a trusting environment in which every child is seen and supported according to their strengths, interests, and needs.
Respectful and appreciative interaction is very important to us. Children of different backgrounds, cultures, nationalities, and ages meet here every day. They play, learn, and discover the world together, benefiting from one another. This diversity enriches our daily life and makes our kindergarten a place where openness, tolerance, and community are lived values.
How We Work
Our Motto: We Meet Each Other at Eye Level
In our kindergarten, we approach every child with respect, appreciation, and on equal terms. We create an atmosphere where children can freely express their feelings, thoughts, and interests and experience that their opinions matter.
Through participatory activities, children actively shape their daily routines and learn to make decisions and find solutions together. Our educators respond to the individual interests and needs of each child and support them in their development.
A special focus of our work is on free play. Here, children can discover their abilities, develop friendships, be creative, and explore the world in their own way. We also support children’s language development throughout the day through a variety of conversations and learning opportunities.
Our kindergarten is a place where children experience community, try new things, and learn and grow with joy.
Our Spaces
St. Theresia Kindergarten is currently housed in a mobile transitional facility. A new building in the “Holter Kapelle” development is planned, which will offer even more space for play, movement, and learning.
Each group has a spacious classroom and a flexible adjoining room. These rooms are adapted to the interests and needs of the children – currently used, for example, as a role-play or construction room – and are open to all children, enabling interactions beyond their own group.
Our bright, spacious hallway is also designed flexibly according to the children’s needs, creating additional play, movement, and quiet spaces.
The outdoor area features a play tower, swings, climbing bars, and a sandbox, offering numerous opportunities for play, exploration, and active movement. Here, children can satisfy their natural need for movement and be active together.
A Day in Our Kindergarten
During the cross-group early care from 7:30 to 8:00 a.m., children who need early care arrive calmly and can immediately immerse themselves in play. From 8:00 a.m., children go into their groups, where they have plenty of time to follow their interests and play intensively. Depending on the group’s needs, a morning or closing circle takes place, in which we discuss the day, sing, play songs or finger games, and sometimes work on projects.
Breakfast is flexible: children decide for themselves when and how much they want to eat, according to their own hunger and needs.
The largest part of the day is dedicated to free play. Activities and programs are always integrated voluntarily. Children can also play in small groups in the hallway, outdoors, or in the neighboring group, actively shaping their day.
We aim to spend time outdoors every day. Here too, children can decide where and how they want to play. Around midday, there is a shared “fruit break,” giving every child access to fresh fruit and vegetables – a small snack to keep their energy up.
Pick-up begins at 12:30 p.m. Children registered until 1:30 p.m. have the option of a second breakfast at 1:00 p.m. The kindergarten day ends at 1:30 p.m. at the latest, after a fun, varied, and exciting morning.
