Introduction/specifics
Location
The ‘Mickymaus’ daycare centre is located in the Guthmannshausen district in the rural community of Buttstädt. Our centre is centrally located in the village, so that the surrounding nature with fields and meadows as well as the nearby playground and primary school are only a few minutes' walk away.
We have space for a total of 54 children aged from one year to school age and look after them in three age-homogeneous groups.
Pedagogy
The pedagogical work is based on the Thuringian education plan for children up to the age of 18 and the situation-orientated approach, in which the interests and living environment of the children play a central role. As a movement-friendly daycare centre, we attach great importance to a wide range of physical experiences, such as sensory exercises, sport, a healthy lifestyle and much more. Our daily routine is partially open, so that the children can decide for themselves where, with whom and with what they want to play.
In our daycare centre, the child takes centre stage. We give the children the opportunity to discover the world with curiosity and openness. Participation is a central component of our work: the children shape our everyday life, highlights and changes together with the educational staff. Through age-appropriate co-determination in everyday life, we strengthen their self-confidence and promote their ability to take responsibility. In this way, we create spaces in which each child can unfold freely and develop individually. We pay particular attention to a conscious approach to health. Here, we pay attention to daily exercise in the fresh air, mindfulness and relaxation exercises in everyday life and a healthy diet. This includes the children eating their own meals and preparing a healthy breakfast once a week together with their teachers.
Rooms
When designing our three group rooms, it is important to us that the children have stimuli for independent play, with a variety of materials available. The multi-purpose room can also be used for various purposes, for example for sports activities and for organising our parties. The centrepiece of our daycare centre is the children's kitchen. Here, the children can learn about the world of nutrition in a playful way and develop a love of cooking and baking together.
Our spacious outdoor area with its diverse play and exercise areas, the climbing frame, the sandpit, the scooter track and the climbing tree invite children to play, romp around, try things out, discover and relax.
Team
Our team consists of seven state-recognised educators, a curative educator and two technical staff. As educational professionals, we see ourselves as companions to the children, supporting and encouraging them. Our aim is to develop trusting and reliable relationships with them and, building on this, to accompany the children step by step towards independence.
Collaboration with parents
Close and trusting collaboration with parents is particularly important to us - whether it's in door-to-door discussions or regular development meetings. Requests, suggestions and criticism can be discussed directly at any time or at parents' evenings and are also an integral part of our parents' council meetings. There is an intensive exchange of ideas in order to jointly organise and further develop the daycare centre and everyday life.
Catering
Lunch is supplied by Apetito and prepared freshly every day by our technical staff. Fresh salads and fruit complement the child-orientated and varied lunch menu. The children bring breakfast and snacks from home - according to their own taste. Various drinks, such as water or unsweetened teas, are available to the children at all times in our centre.
