How we work
Our after-school care center works according to the "situational approach", i.e. the children themselves help to shape the daily routine according to their interests and needs. The situational approach aims to help children from different social and cultural backgrounds to understand their environment and to shape it in a self-determined, competent and responsible way.
After-school children have a right to free space and free time in the afternoon
We offer the children the opportunity to move freely and independently in all after-school groups according to fixed rules. The rules are worked out with the children and monitored by them.
The children have plenty of opportunities to play outdoors. There are climbing facilities, play equipment, several sandpits, two slides and a swing. Our children can play table tennis, badminton, handball or other ball games.
The sports facilities can be used independently by the children for soccer or beach volleyball, for example, after instruction.
Free play, but also supervised play, has a great influence on the child's development.
During free play, the children can establish their own contacts and interact freely and unselfconsciously with people, materials and time. They have the opportunity to act, rest or simply observe. This time is particularly important for after-school children. The children enjoy being able to decide for themselves what to do, especially after a long day at school, which is certainly in no way inferior to the demands of an adult's working day.
Guided activities, on the other hand, are an important tool for togetherness, acceptance and the ability to put oneself in another person's shoes. During joint activities, the individual takes a back seat and the community comes to the fore.
Strengthening self-confidence and independence is an ongoing process in the context of leisure education. Expressing one's own needs and dealing with conflicts are central to self-strength and standing up for one's own opinion. The close link between ego competence and social competence also becomes clear here: those who can accept themselves and know their own needs can also accept others. The level of subject competence includes promoting sensory perception and offering projects that also promote the children's cognitive development.
In our work, we pay attention to the inclusion of all areas of education.
