Facilities and Services
We are a two-group facility catering to a maximum of 34 children. There are 17 slots available for 45 hours per week and 17 slots available for 35 hours per week.
The facility provides children and educators with ample space for diverse and creative play opportunities. Each group has a bright, friendly group room with a child-sized kitchenette, a group adjacent room, a washroom, and a shared changing room. Additionally, there is a spacious hallway utilized as both a cloakroom and an extra play area, a multipurpose room, and a generously equipped outdoor play and garden area.
Through the semi-open approach we pursue in our facility, we aim to increasingly offer all children the chance to explore and experience all available spaces with their play and learning activities. This means that children are encouraged not only to play and spend time in "their" group but also to utilize and engage with the facilities and offerings of the entire facility during free play periods.
The facility follows a 7-week meal plan aligned with DGE (German Nutrition Society) standards and is freshly prepared daily by our chef. Children actively participate in shaping the meal plan to make adjustments if necessary.
Number of Staff
The children are looked after full-time by 6 teaching staff. Additionally, we are supported by:
1 chef 1 housekeeping staff
At our facility, children's involvement is highly valued. We advocate for children's rights to education, upbringing, and care, irrespective of their backgrounds, gender, religion, cultural and ethnic orientations, physical and/or mental abilities, and regardless of their parents' life situations.
Our partnership-oriented approach towards children obliges us to involve them in shaping the pedagogical daily routine, thus fostering their self-confidence and sense of responsibility.
Children's involvement and contribution to the facility are encouraged through activities such as:
Joint establishment of group rules and shared responsibility for adherence to them Designing our premises Ideas and wishes for activity and project design Theme selection and organization of celebrations and outings Organization of daily routines Organization of morning circles Tidying up the premises We implement age-appropriate methods of participation tailored to the specific situation of children in our facility, which include:
Consideration of insights from observations of children Consideration of spontaneous statements by children
Children experience how their participation shapes and changes life within the facility.
We prioritize fostering good collaboration with parents and legal guardians.
Education in our facility is supportive and complementary to families. Therefore, it is important for us to engage with families in a trusting and open manner. As the AWO (Arbeiterwohlfahrt, Workers' Welfare Association), we involve parents and other legal guardians in our work for the benefit of children out of conviction and as a matter of course. This involves working with different expectations and striving to find common ground in the interest of the child, so that they can gain security and stability.
We offer the following opportunities for collaboration and parental involvement in the "Löwenzahn" childcare facility:
Regular exchange of information regarding the children (so-called door-angel conversations) Participation in the parents' council Participation in the facility's council Parent-teacher meetings Parent surveys (opening hours, settling-in period, etc.) Parental visits to the facility Home visits by staff to families Accompanying parents on outings and excursions Voluntary parental involvement in specific topics or focal points
Our Philosophy
"The grass doesn't grow faster when you pull on it."
Our aim is to create a facility where children, parents, staff, and visitors feel accepted and comfortable.
Each individual child should:
Feel that we take them seriously and consider them important Feel understood and supported in their child-appropriate "experience of the world" Be protected from dangers Be able to explore their natural curiosity Be able to unfold their great developmental potential Have opportunities to interact and learn from other children
