Current information

Introduction/specifics

Our AFTER- SCHOOL care program opened in September 2022 and can accommodate up to 100 elementary school children. The facility is located in direct proximity to the Karl-Ludwig-von-Guttenberg elementary school in Bad Neustadt and allows children a safe and uncomplicated transition between school and after-school care.

The sponsor of the student after-school program is the town of Bad Neustadt an der Saale.

We work according to the open concept and provide the children with functional rooms where they can individually pursue their interests and needs.

Rooms

The ROOMS are spread over two floors, accessible via stairs (or an elevator for people with disabilities). The children are not cared for in fixed groups. Instead, they are largely free to choose their play and learning environment in functional rooms.

The teaching staff creates a variety of stimuli in the rooms that the children can implement, modify, and develop further. Each teacher is responsible for a specific room, provides a variety of materials, provides inspiration, and serves as a contact person.

Outdoor Facilities

PLAYGROUND of the adjacent elementary school/Rotplatz

The playground offers children a spacious outdoor area with many opportunities for exercise (climbing frames, playground equipment, etc.) as well as quiet areas. We want to give them the opportunity to exercise in the fresh air. Additionally, the Rotplatz is available for soccer, basketball, and track and field activities.

Basics

The after-school care center is a family-supporting daycare facility for school-age children. As a day care provider for school-age children, the after-school care center has an educational, upbringing, and care mandate that is guided by the child's development into an independent and socially capable individual. The holistic support of school-age children requires a collaborative partnership with families and close cooperation with the school. Our objectives are based on the Bavarian Child Education and Care Act (BayKiBiG), which forms the legal basis for our work.

Teamwork with school

We work closely with the primary SCHOOL to promote the children as best as possible. The physical proximity allows for regular exchanges with teachers and the social worker – especially when needed, at the semester, or during parent meetings. Monthly meetings are held between the school and the daycare to discuss topics such as space usage, yearly planning, or to exchange information about the children. There is an annual cooperation meeting between teachers and the daycare team.

Teamwork with parents

In order to provide the children with the best possible way to learn and develop, the cooperation between you as PARENTS and us as educational after-school staff is particularly valuable. That is why a trusting and respectful relationship is particularly important to us.

You are the experts for your child, with whom we would like to exchange ideas and consult in order to gain an insight into what moves the children and their families outside the after-school care center and how we can support your children in the best possible way. We can use this exchange for our educational work and respond specifically to your child.

As both the family and the after-school care center are jointly responsible for the child's well-being, both have a decisive influence on the child's development.

Specifics

Our AFTER-SCHOOL care centre is attended by children from a wide variety of countries, which means that our everyday life is characterised by cultural diversity. According to Art. 12 BayKiBiG, day-care centres for children should contribute to promoting the willingness of families with a migrant background to integrate. We, as pedagogical professionals, appreciate the situations in which different cultures meet and understand them as an enrichment for the development of acceptance, tolerance and respect for each other.

Holiday Care

During the holiday periods, the children have a lot of time and space for intensive and varied leisure activities, due to the extended opening and booking hours of the children. For this purpose, we create a holiday program in advance together with the children. This includes, for example, joint projects, special creative and exercise activities, baking and cooking activities and much more. Our hiking days and excursions (e.g. BayernLab, Sparkasse tour, Tino's Dance World, playground) are popular.

Homework Support

The HOMEWORK TIME takes place from Monday to Thursday from 14:00 to 15:00 in fixed groups – either in the daycare center or in the classrooms. Our educators support the children with their assignments and independent work, ensure a calm learning environment, and cater to the individual work pace of the children. One-on-one support is not possible.Homework is checked for completeness and sampled for correctness. Completed tasks are marked off in the homework diary. Notes for parents are also recorded there or transmitted via app.Additional assignments (e.g. studying for tests, poems, reading) should be done at home – exceptions may be made depending on time and situation. The responsibility for homework lies with the children and their parents. There is no homework supervision on Fridays. Instead, there are free activities or clubs for participation.
