Current information

Introduction/specifics

Hello future “Horties”,

Our facility, sponsored by the city of Bad Neustadt, was opened on September 16, 2008. The after-school care center is located in Brendlorenzen, a district of Bad Neustadt a.d. Saale. The local elementary school in Brendlorenzen and two municipal kindergartens are adjacent to our facility.

In our after-school care center, 90 primary school children (1st - 4th grade / 6-10 years) are cared for in an open concept. We also take in 10 vacation children per school year. Our after-school care center is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. during school hours and from 7.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the vacations.

The after-school care center is closed on all weekends, public holidays and on the closing days announced at the beginning of the school year (approx. 10 max. 15).

Our mission statement

Appreciation, understanding and authenticity. These three aspects characterize our mission statement for creating a positive pedagogical relationship between educators and children.

Our facility also focuses on open work. We do not have fixed groups, but rooms that are occupied by teachers and can be used by the children. They can decide for themselves where they want to spend their time. In this way, we meet the individual needs of the children.

Rooms

Our after-school care center consists of a canteen, 3 group rooms and a multi-purpose room. Homework is done in the neighboring elementary school, which is directly connected to the after-school care center. We also use the school gym daily for physical education.

The elementary school's workshop and school library are also popular facilities.

Outdoor Facilities

For our outdoor playtime, we use the red square, the playground and the public playground, which is right next to the after-school care center.

Food

The hot lunch is delivered fresh daily by a caterer. It is charged according to actual expenditure. The price will be €3.65 from September 2025.

In addition, a monthly flat rate of €5.00 will be deducted. From this, your child will receive drinks (water and juice) and a daily lunch snack (during the vacations, breakfast is offered instead of the lunch snack).

Basics

Our basic principles concern the targeted support and care of children of primary school age outside of regular school hours. Central pedagogical aspects are:

  • Child orientation: “We put the child at the center”
  • Participation: “Children should have a say”
  • Holistic support: “We promote social, emotional, creative and motor skills”
  • Attachment and relationships: “Reliable relationships between teachers and children are central”
  • Leisure education: “We offer spaces for free play, creative activities and recreation”
  • Social learning: "The children learn how to deal with conflicts, cooperation, consideration and responsibility in the group.
  • Educational partnership with parents: Close cooperation with parents is important in order to support the child holistically
  • Inclusion and diversity: Different life situations, cultures and needs of the children are included in an appreciative manner

Teamwork with parents

In terms of the educational partnership, regular exchanges with parents are very important to us. The central forms of exchange therefore include

  • Communication via the Kikom app
  • Door-to-door discussions
  • Conversations with parents as required
  • Parent afternoons
  • Parent surveys

“Family and daycare center is the child's first university” (author and date unknown)

Specifics

Despite the 90 children, a major focus of our facility is on open work. We do not have fixed groups, but rooms that are supervised by the educational staff and can be used by the children. They can decide for themselves where they want to spend their time.

Our pedagogical focus is on movement education, the promotion of creativity, language education and free play.

Holiday Care

During the vacations, our after-school care center is open from 7.30 am to 5 pm.

During the vacations, we organize a supporting program with and for the children. Creative days, activity days, outdoor days, play/toy days alternate. For example, we go on excursions to the surrounding area, bike tours, creative activities, competitions, playground tours, ...

Homework Support

The children do their homework in the adjacent elementary school, separated by year group. They are supported by the teaching staff. Depending on the year group, the children have 30 - 60 minutes to complete their homework.

Fridays are free of homework in the after-school care center. This gives the children the opportunity to spend free time with the educational staff, and the parents have the chance to get to know their child's academic development better through the weekend homework.
