School-Based Childcare

Under municipal management, the Bad Schussenried Elementary School offers after-school care. This supplements the open all-day school program, thus fulfilling the legal entitlement to all-day care.

Starting in the 2026/2027 school year, the following care hours will be offered:

Early morning care Mon. - Fri.: 7:00 a.m. - 8:25 a.m.

Lunchtime care Mon. - Thurs.: 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. and Fri.: 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

What can children expect there?

The children are supervised by reliable staff members with experience in childcare. The focus is on the children's needs before and after school. These include, for example:

• Finding a trusted adult to whom you can share your experiences
• Playing freely with children of the same age in various play areas, doing crafts, or reading
• Simply relaxing in the cozy corner
• Getting enough exercise and the chance to run around and play

Important: The municipal after-school program does not offer homework support!

Registration is binding for six months.

Holiday Childcare

As part of the legal entitlement to all-day care, both the established "Xund ins Leben" holiday camps and the municipality's own holiday care program will be available in the coming school year. Together, these two options cover a large portion of the school holidays.

The "Xund ins Leben" holiday camps take place during the autumn, Easter, Whitsun, and summer breaks. Full-day care is provided from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Bad Schussenried Civic Center (Stadthalle). A varied program awaits the children, featuring sports and physical activities, nature and adventure outings, and creative projects. The focus is on having fun, sharing experiences, and fostering social skills.

In addition, the town of Bad Schussenried offers municipal holiday care during other school breaks—including the Christmas, Carnival, Easter, and summer holidays. This service also runs daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and includes a shared lunch.

For both options, registration is required no later than six weeks before the start of the respective holiday care period. Registration for the holiday camps is handled directly through "Xund ins Leben," while the municipal holiday care is organized via the "Little Bird" parent portal.
