Introduction/specifics

The municipal day-care centre (Kita) Sportkita Plaisir is located on Berliner Ring, on the edge of a large new-build area in the north of Backnang. The centre is situated in the immediate vicinity of the Plaisir school and a sports hall. This neighbouring sports hall is mostly used by the Kita for movement-based activities during the holidays.
The centre is a purpose-built new building (opened in May 2022) and has a large, well-overlooked garden with various outdoor play equipment (climbing frames, tree houses, trampolines) as well as two large sandpits. The crèche has its own, slightly separated garden area, which is age-appropriate and has its own sandpit and its own play equipment.
The Sportkita is architecturally designed to accommodate six groups. Each group room has its own, individually and thematically designed side room, which is directly accessible. All groups have access to a large movement room with a wide range of gymnastics and movement equipment. This creates a space for experience, in which children can develop their physical, cognitive, social and emotional skills in a holistic way. In addition to the group room and the changing room, the crèche group has its own sleeping room. There is also a separate, small movement room designed specifically for crèche children.

Basics

The educational work in the kindergarten is based on the orientation plan for education and upbringing. In our kindergarten, we work according to a part-open concept and place emphasis on movement and nutrition. The focus is on the joy of physical activities, which are not dependent on physical constitution and aim to allow children to discover their own motor skills and to get to know different types of sports activities. We cooperate with special sports programmes offered by the Kindersportschule (KiSS) of the TSG Backnang 1846 e.V. All GT children are provided with regional and healthy midday meals via the in-house canteen. The aim is to strengthen children’s own body awareness and to foster an understanding of the connection between healthy nutrition, exercise and physical well-being. Movement is a prerequisite for education, because experiences can only be gained through active interaction with the environment. Furthermore, children experience their senses as the basis for activity and participation. Movement is also important for language and communication. Children actively discover the world through movement. Movement creates a variety of situations in which children interact with each other, exchange ideas and learn new words. By actively exploring their environment, they gain their own experiences which they can process and express linguistically.

Every child who comes to our nursery brings their own story with them. They have already travelled a certain distance on their developmental path within their family and social environment. We see a child’s natural desire to move as an opportunity that should be encouraged in order to learn and grow. From our point of view, it needs individual attention and a protected environment in order to develop into a self-reliant, independent and confident person.

The dialogue between parents and the educational staff is of fundamental importance; only through good communication can we achieve a lot together. Together we want to sharpen our focus on the individual child. The exchange of information in a respectful environment gives children, parents and staff a sense of security. That is why we are interested in a variety of forms of cooperation and we would like to make our work transparent.
