Introduction/specifics

The municipal day nursery (Kita) Imster Straße is located in the quiet residential area of the Kreuzäcker settlement on the outskirts of Maubach. In the immediate vicinity are the primary school with a multi-purpose hall, a sports field and a recreational area. Several playgrounds, green spaces and the Plattenwald recreational area are located in the immediate vicinity of the Kita.
The two-storey building provides space for two groups with ancillary rooms. The upper floor houses a group room and the ground floor another group room. All group rooms have an integrated kitchenette and an adjoining washroom. In addition, a multi-purpose hall is available on the ground floor, which is used, among other things, as a movement room.
The outdoor play area is accessible both via the multi-purpose hall and via the group room on the ground floor. It includes a sandpit, a water pump with water play equipment, a climbing tower with a slide, a small playhouse and a tree trunk integrated into the landscape for balancing. The natural-looking, slightly hilly terrain is planted with various trees and shrubs and offers children a wide range of play and movement experiences.

Basics

In our day-care centre, we work according to the orientation plan for education and upbringing and the pedagogical approach of the Montessori method. This approach is supported by the two additional focal points of ‘research and experimentation with children’ and ‘prevention of violence’. The Montessori method is based on tireless observation, careful assessment and appropriate action. You will quickly realise that freedom ends where you restrict the rights and needs of others. According to Maria Montessori, research and experimentation are a natural part of every child. A child who is curious and inquisitive towards its environment can understand and grasp it bit by bit. Furthermore, Maria Montessori saw the ultimate goal of education as being to build up in children and young people the willingness, ability and desire for peace in a non-violent process that lasts for years.
Our image of the child is based on the foundation laid by Maria Montessori, who put it so well: Every human being – and of course every child – is endowed with a dignity that must remain inviolable, because it is ultimately what makes us human. Because there is only one of each person in this world, there is also only one way for each person to live a meaningful life. This includes supporting children in their self-love and self-acceptance, as well as tolerating the acceptance of others as they are.
It is important to us to make our work in the daycare centre as transparent as possible to the parents. Parents should have the opportunity to gain a better insight into our educational work, its aims and their implementation. Furthermore, there are opportunities for parents to participate in the daily life of the daycare centre.
