Introduction/specifics

The Ilse day nursery (Kita) is located between the Plattenwald recreation area and the city centre. Nearby are the Plaiseerschule primary school and the In der Taus comprehensive school. The single-storey building with a flat roof provides space for four groups, each with its own group room. The room capacity is complemented by a large rest room and a multi-purpose hall with an adjoining cloakroom area and a changing and washing room. The multi-purpose hall is used in a variety of ways and serves as a dining area in addition to providing space for movement and group activities.
The large garden features two swings, a bird’s nest swing and a crèche area for children under three years of age, including a house with a slide and ramp. There are a large and a small sandpit, two climbing frames (one with a slide) and a balance beam. At the back of the Kita there is a rock garden, which can be accessed via the terrace door from the multi-purpose hall. Here the children also have a paved area at their disposal.

Basics

The educational work of the day-care centre is based on the orientation plan for education and upbringing. Within the framework of the respective annual thematic focus, the children are supported in all areas of education and development. Particular emphasis is placed on the promotion of movement. Movement is encouraged in everyday life through walks, time spent in the garden and movement activities. Another focus is on the promotion of independence. The children are encouraged in their everyday lives to take on tasks more and more independently, for example, brushing their teeth or getting dressed. In the event of conflicts, they are initially given the necessary space to develop their own solutions, with the educational staff providing supportive impulses where necessary.
Children are independent individuals with a wide range of abilities and individual development potential. The educational staff see themselves as companions on the journey, supporting the children and enabling them to gain their own experiences and develop their skills further. The children are taken seriously in their independence and are supported in their need for independence. In addition, we adhere to the basic principle of the Montessori method of education: ‘Help me to do it myself.’ In their daily educational activities, children are given the opportunity to take responsibility for themselves and to develop their own skills. The staff members pay close attention to the children and provide support where it is needed.
Parents are regarded as important partners in the care, education and upbringing of their children, as they know their children best. Cooperation is achieved through regular conversations at the door and at drop-off and pick-up times, as well as through development talks. Additional talks are offered if there is a need for further discussion. A handover book in each group also ensures that important information is reliably passed on between parents and the educational staff, even when the centre is running on a shift system.
