Introduction/specifics

The Etzwiese urban daycare centre is a nature-based kindergarten located on the former site of the adventure playground on the western edge of Backnang. The meadow area, which covers around 1,000 square metres, provides children with a wide range of opportunities to play and move in nature, giving them plenty of space to explore, discover and act independently. The fenced meadow area has a heated trailer and a wooden hut, both of which are located on the spacious grounds. There is seating available for all the children and the care staff. During the colder months or in the event of very heavy rain, the trailer and the wooden hut serve as a warm, sheltered retreat for warming up. The children spend most of the day outdoors, so the trailer and the wooden hut are only used temporarily.
The wooden hut belonging to the Pusteblume group also has a sanitary area that is available to everyone. In addition, there is a separate room with a small kitchen in the trailer.

Basics

Our educational work is based on the educational and care plan. The focus of our work in the kindergarten is to support the child in its natural development, to encourage its curiosity and to strengthen its self-efficacy in harmony with nature and its diversity. An important aim of nature education is to experience nature directly, its processes, the changes with the seasons and its phenomena. The children gain first-hand experience. They observe animals and plants, study and observe their behaviour, ask questions and work together with the educational staff to find the answers. The emphasis is not on learning facts that can be tested, but on becoming familiar with nature and learning in a playful way. Another focus of our work is the promotion of gross and fine motor skills. The grounds and the surroundings of the Etzwiese kindergarten provide enough space and opportunities for this. The children are constantly challenged. They learn perseverance and skill and thus constantly gain more self-confidence.
We see the child as an independent, self-thinking, self-acting and competent person. Children are naturally curious, inquisitive and active. Through their childlike curiosity and uninhibited inner drive, they familiarise themselves with the world. For us, every child is a valuable human being whom we treat as an equal. We accept all children in their diversity, with all their strengths and potential for development. In the nature-based kindergarten, we support and promote the child in its current stage of development by giving it space and time to develop its abilities.
In our facility, we understand the educational partnership with parents, families and other caregivers as a central pillar of our pedagogical work. We see parents as important partners who are actively involved in the educational process of their children and who share their experiences, wishes and needs with us. In order to ensure a trusting cooperation, we maintain an open and respectful exchange.
