Introduction/specifics

The Bertha von Suttner day nursery (Kita) is located on the western edge of Backnang in the Wasserturm district and is situated in a residential area with restricted traffic. The facility has three group rooms, each with an adjoining room. There is also a kitchen and a washroom. A spacious corridor area can also be used as a movement room.

The outdoor area directly adjacent to the building offers a variety of play, movement and retreat areas. The equipment includes a climbing frame, a larger climbing structure with play towers, a slide and rope bridges, a playhouse and a nest swing. The outdoor area is complemented by a fixed wooden tractor with a trailer, two covered sandboxes, a herb and vegetable garden and a garden shed.
 

Basics

The educational work of the day-care centre is based on the orientation plan for education and upbringing. The educational and developmental areas form the basis of the educational work. One of the educational priorities is to promote children in the areas of movement, independence, self-confidence, language and social skills. Many educational processes are integrated into everyday life, so that there is enough room for the individual needs and interests of the children.

The image of the child is shaped by a respectful and resource-oriented attitude. The child is at the centre and is perceived in its uniqueness, vitality and curiosity, as well as in its feelings, needs and abilities. The educational staff give the children time to develop, to build friendships and to become increasingly independent and self-confident. A special emphasis is placed on participation. Children can make decisions in everyday life, express their wishes and ideas and take part in joint decision-making processes. Children’s conferences and joint discussions enable them to express their opinions and to experience themselves as being effective.

The educational partnership with parents is based on open, regular and trusting communication. Parents are seen as important partners in the responsibility for education and upbringing. Discussions take place, among other things, at the time of admission, during the settling-in period and at least once a year in the form of a development discussion. The communication is supplemented by door-to-door talks, parent evenings, letters to parents and digital information. Parents’ concerns, suggestions and complaints are taken seriously and dealt with together.
