Introduction/specifics

The Am Sommerrein day nursery (Kita) is located in the north-eastern part of the green space of the same name and is surrounded by a playground and numerous trees. The Kita’s surroundings offer children a variety of opportunities for movement and experiences in nature. In the immediate vicinity are the Taus primary and comprehensive school, the Plaisirschule, a forest playground and the Plattenwald.

The Kita has two regular groups and features various functional rooms, including a movement room, a role-playing room, an atelier, a sofa room, and a construction and games room. The facilities are complemented by a kitchen and a washroom. The spacious garden provides an important additional educational and experiential space. It offers children a variety of opportunities for movement, free play, social interaction, and independent action. The naturalistic design and the diverse play options address and promote various areas of children’s development.
 

Basics

The educational work of the day-care centre is based on the orientation plan for education and upbringing and the concept of a partially open environment with functional areas. A key focus of our work is project work. Long-term projects are developed from topics selected in children’s conferences or suggested by the educational staff. Recurring interests observed in the children can also form the basis of a project.

The concept of the child is based on the idea that every child is a unique and independent individual. Children are seen as active agents who gain their own experiences and develop at their own pace. The educational staff create the appropriate framework conditions for this and give the children enough time and space to gain their own experiences in different areas. They treat each child with tolerance, acceptance and respect. The individual interests and needs of the children are recognised and taken into account. By freely choosing activities and play partners, children are given the opportunity to make their own decisions, develop independence and utilise their own abilities.

As a family-complementing and -supporting institution, the day-care centre places great emphasis on a trusting educational partnership. The basis of cooperation between parents and pedagogical professionals is openness, appreciation and mutual trust. Transparency regarding the pedagogical work, as well as opportunities for discussions and exchange, promote active parental involvement.
