Growing together – from the youngest to the oldest.

Our Evangelical Kindergarten Herzogin Amalie is located in the Magdalenenstift in Altenburg with its beautiful park – a place where children can play, marvel, learn and grow up in a safe environment. Here we look after up to 119 children in seven groups and create an environment in which every child can flourish. Our tradition dates back to 1835.

Spacious group rooms, modern sanitary facilities, a bright children's café with a serving kitchen and a spacious hallway for playing and moving around offer the best conditions for a happy and safe kindergarten experience.

Experience nature – discover spaces

Our large park and the adjacent playground invite children to romp, explore and experience. In the midst of this green oasis, little adventures take place every day – and soon there will be a world of experiences for young and old that combines movement, encounters and nature.

Education with heart and faith

As part of the Evangelical Lutheran Magdalenenstift Altenburg, we live by the motto

‘We connect generations so that life succeeds.’

Through songs, prayers and stories, the children learn that they are loved by God and unique. Our educational concept nurtures each child holistically – with curiosity, joy and trust.

Learning for life

In the preschool group, we provide children with particularly intensive support in the year before they start school. Exploration, exercise and creativity play a major role in this.

The interaction between the generations is particularly formative: encounters with the senior citizens of the Magdalenenstift enrich everyday life and foster mutual appreciation, closeness and understanding.

A safe haven for the little ones

Since 2012, we have also been welcoming children from the age of one. To this end, we have created loving, age-appropriate rooms that combine safety, security and the joy of discovery.

In 2018, another childcare area was added in the former vicarage in the Stiftsgarten – an idyllic place where our youngest children can gently grow into the big world of kindergarten.
