Frequently asked questions

What is my advantage of using LITTLE BIRD?

LITTLE BIRD can be used comfortably from home, from your computer, smartphone or tablet at any time. Of course you still have the option to put your inquiry directly to the day-care center.

LITTLE BIRD is a search engine: At the parent´s portal you can easily get well arranged information about the provider of childcare – without commitment and registration.

Put a care request with LITTLE BIRD: After your registration and login at the parent´s portal you can request your favored childcare place, also several in parallel. In doing so, it is not important whether the provider of childcare currently has free capacities.

1. Do I have to register to be able to see the childcare facilities?

No. The parent portal of LITTLE BIRD works like a search engine. You can search without registration and see the results in an alphabetical list and in a map. There, you will find also any information and contact dates.

2. Why do I have to register?

This is necessary to inquire places for a child. The system is able to recognize if the care request is real or fake.

3. How to inquire childcare places?

To create a care inquiry you have to register first. Then you are able to notify your chosen child care facility about your care demand. To send a care inquiry it is necessary to fill in all the marked (labeled with *) arrays.

4. Is it only possible to create a care inquiry online?

No. The portal is only one possibility to put a care inquiry. Of course you can still turn to your city administration or care facility directly. Both personal inquiries at your city council or care facility and online inquiries via LITTLE BIRD will be processed in equal measure.

5. How can I get in contact with the childcare center or child minder, directly?

You simply need to use the contact information in portal profile. If there are no or less contact information, please contact your local municipality.

6. What should be taken into consideration while filling the online-form?

Please make sure, that all your dates are correctly. Fill in all the marked (labeled with *) arrays. This applies also for unborn children. In this case, the system needs placeholders. After the birth, you have the option to modify the dates.

7. If I create an inquiry for an unborn child, why do I have to fill in the first and last name?

The system needs dates about the first and last name to process the care inquiry. Incomplete dates cannot be sent or processed. After birth you have the option to change and modify these dates, so that you can fill in provisional dates or placeholders like “first name: unknown”.

8. Why is the telephone number mandatory for an inquiry?

For the provider of childcare it is the best solution to contact you in case of further questions.

9. Do I have to fill in a second contractor?

Yes, if you are married or if you have joint custody for the child that you make the registration for.

10. How can I look after a sibling in the same facility?

You have the option to clarify this to the request with childcare center.

11. What is meant by “priority” in the care inquiry?

The priority selection in the care inquiry is related to the chosen care facilities. For example, if you place care inquiries s at multiple care facilities, the priority field provides a ranking for your favorite care centers. Priority “1” means that this care facility is your absolute favorite. All of the following inquires (starting with priority “2” onwards or no further priority) indicate that those care centers are considered less by you.

12. What happens after I submitted my care inquiry?

Your inquiry is being forwarded to the respective care facilities. As soon as you introduced yourself personally to the care facility or the responsible administrative personnel in your city, the respective care facility is able to put in a reservation offer to your inquiry.

Option 1

Invitation to a personal dialogue

Offer for a childcare place by the daycare center or child minder (You have to accept or refuse the offer, within about three weeks. Up to this time, all inquiries are inactive.)

Commitment by the parents (The place is accepted binding from both sides. All other inquiries are automatically inactive.)

You will receive an individually contract by the daycare center or child minder.

Option 2

Invitation to a personal dialogue

Offer for a childcare place by the daycare center or child minder (You have to accept or refuse the offer, within three weeks. Up to this time, all inquiries are inactive.)

Rejection by the parents (after your rejection, this request is disabled in the system, all others will be reactivated.)

You have the possibility to make a new request.

Option 3

The childcare facility or child minder does not have any free capacities (for example) an rejects your request.

You have the possibility to make a new request.

13. How long does it take, until I get a reply?

This is quite difference. LITTLE BIRD has no influence. The rule is: For your planning-security it´s better, the earlier you asked.

14. Why do I have to introduce myself in person?

For security reasons a personal introduction is required to verify you as the person who is demanding the care spot. Thus, a pseudo or joke-request can be ruled out. Consequently, your care inquiry can be taken into consideration during the allocation of child care spots.

If you have any other questions, please contact your childcare center/child minder directly.
