Introduction/specifics

The facility is one of several day-care centers under the municipal sponsorship of the Michendorf municipality. It is located in the Michendorf district near the train station in the middle of a newly created residential area with single and multi-family houses and in the immediate vicinity of the forest. It consists of two separate houses. The low-rise building is the “Heideschlösschen” day care center, built in 1997, and represents the crèche area, in which children between the ages of zero and three are usually cared for. The second, multi-storey building opposite is the “Wirbelwind” day care center, built in 2009 , and for children from three to school age. Both houses have a spacious outdoor area with play equipment. In the "Wirbelwind" daycare center there is a dining room and a sports room on the ground floor of the building. The sports room is used by the crèche and is also used for external pedagogical offers such as that of the music school.

Rooms

The “Heideschlösschen” day-care center can look after up to 66 children. There are four spacious ground-level group rooms, each divided into two areas. Each group is accompanied by two permanent group teachers and has an average group size of 16-17 children. All group rooms are connected to one another by an "atrium" (large, open play foyer).

The team currently consists of ten active pedagogical specialists as well as two trainee teachers and one trainee social assistant. Occasionally interns accompany the everyday life.

Up to 102 children visit the “Wirbelwind” day care center on three floors at the same time. There are six group rooms, three of which can be found on the first and three on the second floor. These are also divided into two by a double door and connected to each other by a large hallway. On average there are 17 children in a group.

Both houses are each supported by two technical staff and a caretaker.
